So, here's my story in a nut shell. February 2005 I attended Total Solution in Colorado. For those of you who have
not been there to this program, let me recommend you do this like yesterday. Dr. Gentempo talks about a "pivotal moment"
in your life...this is it. Anyway, let's back up a little. May 2004...myself, my wife and our 2 boys are living at my parents
house. I have been in practice for 3 years, and I am sitting at a computer filling out on-line surveys for extra money.
Low point...uh, yea. Now, I've always has a strong, chiropractic philosophy and lived and teached it since I was in school.
And, even though things were not where I wanted them to be, I did not stray from it in practice. So, the 40 people I was
seeing a week were getting it pure and simple. My philosophy was that I'd rather give 40 people the opportunity to gain greater
health, wellness and vitality then give 200 people the opportunity to get rid of their back pain.
So, it's a Friday night and as I sit there blurry from looking at the computer screen for hours, I thought how much I
could use a little guidance. Someone to give me the information I didn't get in school to help with the business aspect of
chiropractic. Thus the e-mail. To 10 of the biggest names in the chiropractic field, I send an e-mail. And in the email,
I ask if any one will start an e-group to help people like me who have questions and need answers from those who have been
there, done that.
A few days go by and I get an email from Dr. Pat, the only response I get, in fact. We get to emailing and it happens
the CLA is giving it's first Total Solution Scholarship out to a chiropractor in need of help and he was going to give it
to me. I told myself that I was fine, I just needed time, people will come, etc, etc, etc, but, deep down, I knew I was
lying just to keep my spirits up. So, I accept, use what I have left on a credit card to fly to Dallas to accept it and my
"pivotal moment happened". Here it is.
I loved what I did. Had no idea how I got there or what led me down this path, but I got there and loved it. I especially
loved helping children. And, out of the 40 or so people I adjusted, about half were children. And, I knew after Dallas that
this is where my path was to go...build and build a big pediatric practice. But, even more than that, find a way to educate
children in a better way than what was there now. Now, please, don't take offense to what I'm about to say if you do or have
these things...I just think they are outdated and boring.
I had the crappy animal stickers and tattoos. I had the spine key chains. I didn't have the muppets poster only because
I thought it was more scary than educational. And I would have had the fish or deer table if I could have afforded it. And,
kids took them because they were free and what kid does not like little crappy things that are free. I always thought there
has got to be something better out there than this. And, there wasn't. Through all the searches I did, there was nothing.
Ok, so we fast forward to February 2005. Practice is getting better, but not great. I finally decide to go to Total Solution
and like I said, it was 4 days that changed the course of my life. My idea was now a vision and I was determined to make
my vision a reality.
And his name was Captain Chiropractic and the Heroes of Health. A superhero, not an animal or muppet. What child does
not like a superhero? And, even better is where in the world is there a superhero whose goal in life is to promote heatlh
and wellness? Oh, the plot thickens. And what about an arch enemy? Every superhero has an arch enemy! Enter - Sammy Subluxation
and his band of Unhealthy Friends, the Stress Brothers. Good vs Evil, Chiropractic vs stress and Unhealthy lifestyles. The
world was about to change for the better and it would be because the children of the world were going to start out healthy
instead of having to work at it backwards as an adult.
Whew...I'm sweating just thinking of the impact. So, Captain Chiropractic turns into an educational series. Things
that chiropractors can use to help educate children about the chiropractic wellness lifestyle and at the same time, help build
bigger, better chiropractic pediatric practices. The Warners have endorsed the idea and promoted it to their Kids Day America
doctors. We are currently working with Dr. Ohm from the ICPA getting it on their website. Christina Mandara of ESpizz is
also on board and has helped tremendously bring this vision to fruition. We are also currently speaking with some health
food companies about using him as a spokesperson for their cereals and other products. Like a snowball, it takes just a little
push down the hill for it to grow exponentially.
That takes us to today. My practice continues to grow in size as well as in pediatric patients, due greatly to the inception
of the Insight Millenium from CLA. Captain Chirorpractic is spreading worldwide and will soon be a household name. And,
it is my hope that you have come to our site to help spread the vision around the world as well as bring in a system to your
